Reticle Simulator

Load a ballistic profile, pick any reticle, and see exactly where to hold at range — on a real-size target, with dialing, FFP/SFP scaling, trajectory trace, shot grouping and hit probability. The same math the Zima Ballistics app uses.

BETA

The Reticle Simulator is a brand-new feature under active development — things may change and you might hit the odd rough edge. Spotted a bug or have an idea? Let us know.

How to use the Reticle Simulator

Quick start

  1. Pick a reticle — search and click one in the Reticle section (our own precision builds are pinned at the top). It draws in the scope.
  2. Set your load — open Load & Conditions, choose a preset (or type your BC, muzzle velocity, weight, zero, wind…). The trajectory solves automatically.
  3. Pick a range — drag the Range slider. The red dot jumps to exactly where you'd hold; the HUD shows elevation/wind, velocity, time of flight and clicks.
  4. Dial & hold — dial part of the solution with the turret steppers; the dot shows the remaining hold.

Zoom, move & target

  • Zoom: scroll over the scope or use the Magnification slider. On SFP reticles, zooming off the reference power rescales the hold (with a warning) — on FFP it always tracks.
  • Move: drag the scope to swing onto the target; double-click to recenter.
  • Target: turn on a target in Target & Display — it's drawn at true angular size, so it shrinks with range and grows with magnification, exactly like real glass. Enable the vital zone to see hit probability.

Tools

  • Trajectory trace draws a range ladder up the reticle (each hash = the distance its drop matches).
  • Shot group — Fire simulated shots with a dispersion you set, see group size; Range estimate works backwards from a target's size and how many mils/MOA it covers.
  • High-fidelity engine — flip it on in Load & Conditions for spin drift + Coriolis (the full app solver); Export a PNG of the current scope view.
