How to use the Ballistics Solver ▾
Quick start
- Pick a preset (Load Preset) for a common cartridge, or enter your own load below.
- Choose your drag model — G7 for modern long-range boat-tail bullets, G1 for most factory/flat-base bullets — and type the matching Ballistic Coefficient.
- Enter muzzle velocity and bullet weight (both on the bullet box, or from your chronograph).
- Set your conditions (altitude, temperature, wind) and your zero, scope height, and how far out to calculate.
- Hit Calculate → to build the drop table, trajectory chart, and summary.
Reading the results
- Drop (in) is the bullet's physical distance below your line of sight — how far low it actually hits.
- Come-up MOA / MIL is the dial or hold correction — positive means dial up, matching the app exactly. This is a different number from Drop (in) on purpose: one describes the bullet's path, the other tells you what to turn your turret to.
- Wind columns show how far the wind alone pushes the bullet sideways at your wind setting — spin drift is shown separately and isn't included here.
- Vel / Energy / TOF show speed, energy, and flight time at each range; the engine marks the row where the bullet goes subsonic.
- Use ↓ CSV to download a spreadsheet or ⎙ Print to make a printable range card.
This solver loads the full app engine on your first visit (about 18 MB, cached after that) — spin drift, aerodynamic jump, and 4DOF are on by default. Give it a few seconds the first time.
